Ceremony to honour Mahanayake thera

The Sri Dharmarakshitharama Vihara, Gorakana will honour the Most Ven. Weligama Sri Gnanarathana Mahanayaka Thera for his services to the Buddha Sasana at a ceremony at the Viharaya on April 24.

The Most Ven. Weligama Sri Gnanarathana thera has been conferred the title Vinaya Visharada, Dharmakirthi and Raja Panditha.

He became Mahanayaka of Dharmarakshitha Chapter after the passing away of Most Ven. Madihe Pannasiha thera.

The dayakas of Dharmarakshitharama, Gorakana will honour the Mahanayaka thera by unveiling a plaque with a tribute to the thera from the Vihara and people of the area.

Ven. Ambalangoda Sumangala Mahanayake thera and Ven. Thirukunamale Ananda Anunayake thera, and Colombo University Senior Lecturer Daya Rohana Atukorala will grace the occasion.

The Most Ven. Weligama Sri Gnanarathana Mahanayaka thera and Daya Rohana Athukorala will speak.
