Rally round the Freedom Alliance - Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi

Gampaha District Freedom Alliance candidate Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi in a press release issued yesterday requested all intelligent and responsible people to rally and support the Peoples Alliance at the forthcoming elections to teach a bitter lesson to the UNP which had destroyed the socio-economic, political and cultural structure of this country during the last two years.

The release said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his UNP disturbed over the break up of the LTTE have launched a separate peace process to unite the two LTTE factions.

It said the Prime Minister who was aware of the UNP's imminent defeat at the forthcoming elections had said that even if the UNP failed to secure a majority of seats in the South it would somehow form the next government. He had made this statement expecting the support of the TNA MPs.

But such hopes too had been dashed due to the problem in the LTTE camp which had completely halted the election campaign of the TNA.

The tension in the North East is more favourable to the Freedom Alliance and unfavourable to the TNA. This is also a good opportunity to save the Tamil people in the North and East from the clutches of the fascist LTTE.

People should make use of the present situation to solve the problems of the Tamil people and drive away the destructive UNP rulers.

"I would therefore call upon all religious leaders, intellectuals and members of the civil society to actively come forward to drive away the destructive UNP rulers at the forthcoming election and instal a Freedom Alliance government which would restore the pride of all communities and sections of the people in this country," Mr. Sooriyaarachchi said.
