PA - prime mover of Lanka's Communications Revolution

The telecommunications sector is one of the significant development areas in Sri Lanka that made great strides during the PA regime from 1994 to 2000. The telecommunications sector underwent a major process of reform to meet the challenges of an expanding market in which demand considerably outstrips supply. The successful sale of 35 percent of the equity in the state-owned Sri Lanka Telecom to Japan's Nippon Telephone and Telegraph Corporation has ushered in a new era.
