Having left the country in 1989, the exiled leader of the JVP Somawansa
Amarasinghe flew back to Sri Lanka in January this year after the historic
signing of an MoU between the SLFP and the JVP to create the new force in
the country's political scene - the United People's Freedom Alliance.
