President sacks non-Cabinet and Deputy Ministers President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has sacked all non-Cabinet
and Deputy Ministers in the aftermath of the dissolution of Parliament.
Each non-Cabinet and Deputy Minister was individually informed of this
decision. At meeting with SLMM Chief: President stresses commitment to implementation of Ceasefire Agreement President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday stressed her
commitment to the implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) between
the Government and the LTTE, at a meeting she held with Head of the Sri
Lankan Monitoring Mission Maj. Gen. Trond Furuhovde at the President's
House yesterday. Twelve member gang arrested for attacks on 30 churches The police have arrested a 12 member gang led by a former railway
engineer who returned to the island recently from Australia for allegedly
