Hanjin extends its service agreement with JCT
Hanjin Shipping of South Korea extended its exclusive Terminal Service Agreement with Jaya Container Terminal (JCT) of Sri Lanka's Ports Authority. The agreement to this effect was signed by SLPA - Chairman, Parakrama Dissanayake and Hoon Park of Hanjin Shipping recently.
Hanjin Shipping is one of the top five leading carriers in the world. According to SLPA sources, new service extension showcases the trust and continuous willingness to deal with Colombo Port.
"We have seen tremendous improvements in productivity and efficiency at JCT and Colombo Port. Our shipping line will continue to carry out business with Colombo Port", a spokesman from Hanjin Shipping said.
Port officials also assured its commitments to provide enhanced efficient and productive services to all the shipping lines that call at the port. "We will do our utmost to attract more shipping lines at JCT so that our business would grow in volumes enabling us to make heavy profits" they said.
SLPA has already entered into Terminal Service Agreements with World's giant shipping lines such as Maersk Sealand, Evergreen, Zim Goldstar and DSR Senetor.
Colombo Port also recorded its highest ever container throughput in 2003 handling 1.95 million TEUs. The port during last year has been able to attract 13 new service lines further stabilizing confidence reposed in the Port of Colombo.
