Five die in leftist violence in south India after assassination bid

HYDERABAD, India, Monday (AFP) Three rebels and two civilians died in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh in violence involving a Maoist group that tried to assassinate the provincial leader last week, police said Sunday.
