The Head of Nallai Thirugnanasambanther Adheenam and Ministry of Hindu Religious Affairs officials will also participate. The theme of this year's conference is 'Saivism for the Future Generation'. Three research papers from Sri Lanka submitted by Dr. K. Somasundaram, Shanti Navukarasan and K. Neelakandan have been approved by the Academic Committee for presentation at the conference. About 250 delegates from South Africa, UK, Canada, France, Mauritius, Denmark, India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia and leading Heads of Saiva Mutts from Tamil Nadu will participate in this Conference.

The conference's main aim is to promote new and fundamental research in all fields of Saivism and also international Saiva revival and cohesion. Previous international conferences were held in Madras, Singapore, Paris, Colombo, Durban, Tanjavur, Toronto and Mauritius.

The conference in Kuala Lumpur is being organised by the Saiva Siddhanta Mandram Malaysia in association with other Saiva Organisations in Malaysia and the World Saiva Council. For the first time, the organisers have planned to hold a separate session for the business community to improve the financial and economic status of Saivites throughout the world.

Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohammed has been invited to inaugurate the conference on September 26.
