Karate master teaches Romeos lesson of their life

S. M. Jiffrey Abdeen - Kandy South Group Correspondent

Three youth from Haragama who were noted for teasing young girls and were in the habit of getting fresh with them whilst travelling in the buses were taught a lesson of their lives at Gurudeniya a few days back.

One fine day, these three youth boarded a private bus to Haragama and on seeing three young girls - all sisters seated, they made a beeline towards them despite the attempts by the younger brother of the girls to obstruct them. They shoved their way and stood close to them to start their usual antics.

Others who know what these youth are upto do not dare to question them or resist for the fear of physical retaliation. A quiet but stockily built young man also stood close to the girls, probably to shield them from these undesirables.

The bus was now on the move and all attempts by the young man in requesting the youth to move away did not produce any results except for some provocative language from them. One passenger in the bus was trying to tell in dumb language or sign language to be careful but they ignored it.

The bus had now approached Illukmodera and one of the youth said shall we give this man who is too much the works and the others agreed. This was enough for the quiet man as one of them approached with a clenched fist, he gave a crashing blow and the youth went sprawling and fell near the driver's seat. The next youth received a blow and he crashed on to the floorboard. The third one came forward and another blow saw him dropping on to the seat like slaughtered lamb. He also got the pummeling of his life from another passenger.

The bus had now reached Gurudeniya and hearing the commotion in the bus, the people of the area came rushing and inflicted further mauling on the youth who were a noted nuisance to the bus travelers. As for the quiet man who taught the youth a good lesson is a karate expert and a black belt who conducts classes in many towns. This is why a person in the bus had warned the youth to keep quiet as he knew what was in store for them sooner or later.
