DHARANI   Loving daughter of Dr M. Subramania Sivam and Mrs Bhawani Sivam (of Colombo 3) beloved wife of Paul, affectionate sister of Haran and Gayathri and dear sister­in­law of Soma and Sudharshan, (all of USA), expired on 1st July 2003 in South Africa. Cremation took place in   Pretoria according to Hindu rites. 

FERNANDO ­ CATHERINE   relict of the late Bennet Fernando of Nagoda Kalutara, dearly beloved mother of Nirmanie (Associated Management Services Ltd), Preethi and Srilal (formerly Standard Chartered Bank), beloved mother­in­law of the late Sarath de Silva, Francis Fernando (formerly Municipality Dehiwala) and June (St Paul’s, Waragoda, Kelaniya), expired. Cortege leaves residence on Saturday 19th July at 3.30 p.m. for Burial at St Joseph’s Church Burial Ground.   9/1A, Holy Cross Avenue, Moratuwa. 

GOONEWARDENE   The Death is announced of Srinath Kalinga Goonewardene (SK) retired Principal ­ St Michael’s Colpetty, Dehiwala Madya Maha Vidyalaya. Youngest son of the late Muhandiram and Mrs Arnold Paul Goonewardene of Kalutara, husband of late Beryl (nee Peiris), precious father of the late Capt. Fredrick (Lulu), Paul and Ranjit of Norway, father­in­law of Heather, and Molly, grandfather of Davina, Krishanthi and Samantha of Norway, and of Dilshan, Arushi and Nirasha (USA), brother of late Dr Percy, Dr Hugh, Claudia (Fernando), Kathleen (Wijesekera), Douglas, Frederick and Eardley (Advisor to the President Premadasa) and of Cholmondeley (former M.P. kalutara), expired in Norway. The ashes will be interred on Monday 21st July at the Jawatte Cemetery, (Anglican Section) at 5.30 p.m.
