Divers use an underwater post office in the tropical waters off Vanuatu. The novel idea, which Vanuatu Post claims is the world’s first underwater post office, was the brainchild of Post chief executive Ian Hollins, who wanted to do something to boost the island state’s tourism industry. Three metres under water in the Hideaway Island marine sanctuary, the post office is staffed by postal workers in diving gear and sells special waterproof postcards to snorkellers, divers or plain swimmers willing to hold their breath and do a quick duck dive. Eleven killed as bus smashes into huge tree

Eleven persons were killed and 75 injured, seven of them seriously, when a fully-packed Kurunegala bound CTB bus from Moragollagama crashed into a huge tree yesterday morning.

SLMM Chief to raise issue of camp with LTTE leadership

The Sri Lanka Monitoring Chief Tryggve Teleffssen will take up the matter of evacuating the LTTE camp in government-controlled areas in Kinniya with the LTTE leadership, if the LTTE area leadership does not abide by the SLMM ruling given on Monday evening.
