The Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi of the Sri Saddhatissa International Centre, London has been picked among this year's Birthday Honours list of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd in recognition of his services to Community Relations in North London. His name has been recommended for this honour by Prime Minister Tony Blair. A letter dated 2nd May 2003 addressed to the Ven Galayaye Piyadassi by the Secretary for Appointments states: "The Prime Minister has asked me to inform you, in strict confidence, that he has it in mind, on the occasion of the forthcoming list of Birthday Honours, to submit your name to The Queen with a recommendation that Her Majesty may be graciously pleased to approve that you be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). |
