Porno VCDs, videos seized

The Wennappuwa Police yesterday seized a large haul of compact discs and video cassets containing pornographic materials in a raid on video shops in Bolawatta and Kosgashandiya. Two suspects were also arrested.

The Police said the pornographic CDs were largely circulated among teenagers in the area and the raid was carried out on a tip-off given by a parent who found his 16-year-old son possessing pornographic materials.

Two hundred and ninety VCDs and 425 video cassets were seized along with a dozen of Identity Cards supposed to be of those who borrowed the CDs. Sub Inspector K.M.S.Karunaratne, PC 37129 Bandula and PC 8586 Janaka conduct investigations under the instructions of Vennappuwa HQI Nimal Fernando.
