PM briefs donor countries, agencies : Donors assure swift aid for flood relief

The international community and major donor agencies pledged their
support to the government yesterday to rehabilitate flood-hit cities in
the Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces.
Australia grants A$100,000 for flood relief
SYDNEY, Wednesday (AFP) Australia pledged 100,000 Australian dollars
(65,000 US) cash Wednesday to help Sri Lanka cope with its worst floods in
five decades and said it would commit more once the extent of the damage
LTTE views forwarded to PM
The LTTE, with a view of reviving and forging ahead the peace process
that has been temporarily stalled, has suggested to the Government to
formulate an interim administration instead of the Sub-committee for
Immediate Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Needs(SIHRN).
Cabinet in national appeal for reconstructing flood affected areas

The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting yesterday made a national
appeal to all citizens to assist in the reconstruction work consequent
upon the recent floods, political sources told the Daily News last night.
