"We are at a critical juncture in the history of Sri Lanka. A
major opportunity is within reach to restore peace and bring to an end to
the 20- year-old conflict that has held back the social and economic
advancement of this country. However, it is clear that this process will
be neither rapid nor simple, Minister of Housing and Plantation
Infrastructure Arumugan Thondaman said at the nineteenth session of the
Governing Council of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme at
Nairobi, Kenya recently.
