The first being naming the Kotmale project as late Gamini Dissanayake scheme and unveiling his statue at Kotmale, which is his native village and the other one being the replacement of colonial barrack type labour line rooms with 200 upstairs quarters for the benefit of estate workers at Wanaraja Group in Dickoya at the initiative of C.W.C. leader Arumugam Thondaman as a first step. With the holiday season in full swing, Nuwara Eliya is overflowing with guests with the city taking on a festive mood. All available residences including hotels, guest houses and even rooms are all full and many of the holiday crowds have moved out to places like Bandarawela. The Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Chandana Karunaratne and his council has planned a full and comprehensive Seasonal program for the benefit of holiday makers with motor racing taking pride of place. Business is booming and everyone is making the maximum from these peaceful times. |
