the World Bank's sustained confidence in Sri Lanka and expressed the
President's pleasure particularly to note that the World Bank has pledged
a sum of $800 million for Sri Lanka's development targets.The media
release also made reference to the World Bank grant of a loan of 850
million US dollars in 1995, which in today's terms amounts to 80 billion
