The ball hits the back of Australia’s Adam Gilchrist’s bat and he is caught out by Sri Lanka’s wicket-keeper Kumar Sangakkara. Umpire Koetzer did not rule him out but Gilchrist walked off much to the delight of the Sri Lankans. Gilchrist made 22 runs during the World Cup semi-final match at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.

PORT ELIZABETH, Tuesday - Sri Lanka's brilliant display on the field was not matched by their batsmen as they went down by 48 runs under Duckworth/Lewis rule to defending champions Australia, a result which effectively ended their 2003 World Cup campaign at St. George's Park here today.Australia restricted to 212-7 off 50 overs, came out with all guns blazing to knock the Sri Lankan batting off with some fiery pace bowling on a slow pitch. They reducing them to 123-7 in 38.1 overs when heavy rain forced the match to end. Full story
