Ex-PSD chief's case on June 12

Nihal Karunaratne, former Director of the Presidential Security Division who is accused of intimidation and abuse of former OIC of Hanguranketha Police Station, Gunaratne Banda on November 20, 2001 appeared before Kandy High Court judge S. De Abrew yesterday to deposit his bail amount.

Karunaratne who was earlier released on bail by Magistrate court deposited Rs. 5000 in the High Court of Kandy after which he was released to appear before High Court again on June 12, 2003.

Sate Counsel Disna Warnakulasuriya appeared for the prosecution while Wijeya Wicramaratne PC with Hirantha Herath, Saman Kariyawasam, Piyasiri Abeykoon and Dhamika Ariyadasa attorneys-at-law appeared for the defence.
