Globalisation: its effects on nutrition by Priennie Ranatunga People's development depends on decisions taken at international and
national levels, and activities at community and local levels.
Internationally globalisation, a market friendly paradigm, governs the
world. The forces of globalisation permeate the other 3 levels. Thus
national, community, and NGO efforts at household and community levels in
poorer countries tend to become diluted by its force. The nutrition status
especially of women and children of the Third World, is systematically
