Sri Lanka’s exports will reach a novel dimension with Marks and Spencer deciding to imports teas, vegetables, furniture and ceramics. Sri Lanka is already the second largest supplier of garments to the UK based retail chain, proving 12 percent of its imports, after Morocco. Sri Lanka ranks as the largest tea exporter in the world with a 22 percent market share, exporting to more than 130 countries. Sri Lanka’s ceramics has come of age from antiquity to produce walltiles, porcelainware, tableware with markets in UK, USA, Canada and Australia. High value niche markets are also available in the Netherlands and Belgium.
