Inter-religious Friendship Games in May
The Interreligious Friendship Games (IFG) is an annual sporting event designed to build and promote friendship and peace among people from different cultural and religious background using the powerful medium of sports competition. IFG-2003 will be held in Korea on May 21-25, 2003.
From all continents, athletes between the ages of 16 and 23 will compete in over thirty events covering eight sports.
Track & Field - Half Marathon, Swimming, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton and Table Tennis. Teams as well as individuals are eligible to apply. The top three finalists in each sporting event will be honoured in a ceremony with special award medals.
The Interreligious Friendship Games will be interreligious and international and will display through their activities the power and beauty of unity among diversity.
For the accepted athletes the IFG head quarters in USA will provide a grant, covering room, board and scheduled local travel during the program. International travel is not covered by the IFG. Closing dates for applications are 27th January 2003.
The Interreligious Friendship Games are one of many initiatives of the Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP). The IIFWP is a worldwide organization with the consultative status in United Nations; that is actively promoting in a wide variety of fields, opportunities for international and cross-cultural exchange which enhance bonds of cooperation and friendship.
