Fourth round in Thailand from January 6-9 : Government to propose new Constitution

The Government proposes to enact a new constitution without going for piecemeal amendments to the existing one which will be operational within a federal structure, Cabinet spokesman, Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris told the weekly cabinet news conference yesterday.

Bukit Dhara boosts Colombo bourse

The Colombo Stock Exchange turnover shot up to Rs. 118.1 million yesterday from Rs. 20 million on Friday, largely attributable to the sale of 67,000 shares of Bukit Dhara Sdn Bhd of Malaysia at a floor price of Rs. 901. The transaction yielded Rs. 61 million, accounting for 51 per cent of the sales yesterday.
