Biometric identification as a modern security tool by Dr. Ruwantissa Abeyratne Biometrics are measurable physiological and/or behavioural
characteristics that distinctly identify one individual from another. They
could include fingerprints, retinal and iris features, hand geometry,
vocal patterns, facial characteristics and other identification features
of the human anatomy that can be distinguished as characteristics which
are exclusive to an individual. Biometric identification, which is the
process by which distinct human features are distinguished and identified,
