No-faith motion defeated

The No-Confidence Motion against Interior Minister John Amaratunga was defeated yesterday by a majority of 35 votes, ending an eventful three-day debate which saw charges and counter charges ring across the floor.

Labour Minister orders probe

Employment and Labour Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe yesterday directed the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment to hold an immediate inquiry in to the sudden death of Sri Lankan worker Somalatha Satharasinghe in Kuwait recently.
