Sri Lanka needs reliable power sources to ensure development by Lionel Gulawita Through many contributions in the media and Government announcements we
are aware that the country's present power generation is 1340 MW. It has
been estimated that by the year 2010 the power requirement in the country
will increase to 3000 MW. Let us look back awhile, without acrimony where
we erred, so that we may avoid repeating them over in the future. We must
face the stark truth thereon to understand the issues needing our
