'Action against errant SLFPers'

Suitable persons to be appointed to vacant positions:

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will never hesitate to take disciplinary action against party members engaged in illegal activities, Health Minister and party General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena said. Responding to a question by a journalist yesterday, Minister Sirisena said disciplinary action has already been taken against several party members without considering their status.

"The Party membership of several errant SLFP members were cancelled while several were suspended," he said.

The party membership of persons engaged in child and women abuse incidents in the Southern Province has been cancelled and expelled from their positions, he said.

"Suitable persons will be appointed to the vacant positions," Minister Sirisena said. DSA
