Police SC beat CH and FC 25-12
Winger Shanaka Kumara of Police SC scored twice while equally aided
by Nasoni Rokobiu and Sam Aolele to defeat CH and FC by 25 (two goals,
one try and two penalties) to 12 (four penalties) in another encounter
of the Singer Rugby A Division League played at Police Park yesterday.
Police SC who were in possession of the ball during most of the first
half led 15-6 at half time. CH and FC struggled to reduce the gap, but
failed with repeated mistakes due to poor teamwork.
During the second half CH and FC seemed much energetic but only
scored two penalties out of four opportunities they were given while
police added another 10 points to their card.

It was an exciting game from the first minute of play when Sam Aolele
of Police SC opted for the first penalty which he missed.
Five minutes later Police centre player Nasoni Rokubiu touched down
and Sam added the extra points with successful conversion. CH and FC
forwards were on the attack a few minutes later when police conceded a
penalty and Samoa Alexender made no mistake to tick the score board for
CH and FC. Police led 7-3
In the 29th minute Samoa fired off a penalty to take CH to 6 while
police remained on 7. Later Nasoni widen the gap firing off a penalty.
He was moving too fast for CH defenders to tackle and made an
excellent pass to Shanaka who touched down from the right.
When both teams went off the field to quench their thirst the score
boar read 15- 6 in favour of Police SC.
Just after the half time Sam Aolele had the opportunity to increase
the gap by scoring another penalty.
Police continued to dominate the second half and their aggressive
play earned them a black mark when Akmal Mohamad was shown a yellow
card. It was another opportunity for Alexender to be the star of CH as
he went on to score the third penalty.
The trend continued and a little later Samoa kicked off another
penalty which took them to 12. When Police is six points away from CH
who were seemed challenging Police faced much trouble as Romesh Acharige
was also given a yellow card.
It was another excellent run by winger Shanaka to touch down for the
second time which was converted by Sam to take police to 25. Yesterday
CH and FC faced their sixth consecutive defeat while Police SC will be
much closer to Kandy SC in the points table.
CH and FC will meet Army on July 21 while Police SC will battle it
out with soldiers on July 27 in their next fixtures.
