Sentenced to death for possessing heroin

High Court Judge B. Padman Surasena yesterday sentenced to death a
man who was convicted of possessing heroin.
The accused Sandanam Ganeshan a resident of Kimbula Ela in Blomendhal
Road Kotehena was apprehended with 10.8 grams of heroin in the vicinity
of the Port mini bridge on information received by PC 10222 Upali.
The accused was charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act. Police
investigations revealed that he was a heroin trafficker. Preliminary
proceedings of the case was held at the Maligkanda Magistrate's Court
and thereafter referred to the High Court.
