Expolanka to construct Rs 600 m warehouse

The Expolanka Group announced plans to construct a state-of-the-art, iconic, green, warehouse to provide value added logistics services to the group's rapidly expanding client base.

A Board of Investment project, the warehouse facility called Logistics Parks Pvt Ltd will operate by March next year.

Located at Avissawella Road, Orugodawatte, the Rs 600 million warehouse will consist of an area of 100,000 square feet.

Parallel to this, Expolanka will also construct a 20,000 sq ft state-of-the-art office complex adjacent to the warehouse to provide administrative and management services to the operation of the warehouse.

Expolanka Freight CEO Jagath Pathirane said the project's primary objective is to construct and operate a warehouse facility which is able to provide end-to-end logistics solutions to the company's customers and maintain its profile as a market leader and innovator in the logistics industry. "The proposed warehouse facility will complement our existing business and enable us to market our services better to our customers. In addition, the warehouse will drive forward our corporate objective of positioning Expolanka as providing End-to-End Logistics Services," he said.

With the liberation of the North and East, the country expects tremendous growth potential in various industry sectors. There is a significant boom in the pace of development in most sectors of business. The government plans to develop the port sector and has identified the key developments taking place at the Colombo and Hambantota harbours.

Expolanka's new warehouse facility is expected play a pivotal role in Sri Lanka's logistics industry. It will aid the group's logistics sector and expand its businesses, thereby establishing Expolanka as a market leader in the logistics business.
