New Director General, SACEP
Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa as chairman, Governing
Council of the South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP)
appointed S M D P Anura Jayatilake as the new Director General of SACEP
with effect from May 2012 for three years.
Anura Jayatilake, nominated at the 12th Meeting of the Governing
Council of SACEP, is the 10th Director General of SACEP. Prior to this
assignment, he served as a Director at the Environment Ministry. He has
over two decades experience in environmental management, policy making
and implementation at national and international levels.
He was instrumental in the implementation of the Vehicle Emission
Test programme in Sri Lanka with the coordination of relevant
stakeholders.
