Mother’s death leads to baby’s body

The body of a new born baby girl was unearthed at a block of land in
West Chunnakam, by Kopai Police on Monday.
It surfaced as part of the investigations into the death of a woman.
Police said M Kalyani, 47, of West Chunnakam died mysterously at her
home on Sunday.
The postmortem was carried out at the Jaffna Hospital, consequent to
magisterial investigations. The cause of her death was reported as
extensive bleeding after childbirth, or in an attempt to abort a child.
It led the police to search the woman's house and garden where they
found the body of the infant buried. |
