Fleeing family remanded

Four members of the same family who allegedly tried to flee from the Horana Government Rest House without paying a six month bill were arrested by the Horana Special Crime Investigation Unit and produced before the Bandaragama magistrate. Magistrate Mahinda Ranasingha ordered to remand the parents and the daughter until June 1 and released the son on bail.

The magistrate ordered the boy to be handed over to the Kelaniya Boy's Home as there was no one to pay the bail.

The suspects aged 62, 50, 18 and 15 had stayed at the rest house for several months and had tried to flee without settling the bill.
