More opportunities for MICE tourism

The country’s growing tourism industry has presented huge opportunities for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) which caters to the high-end of business travellers.

As Sri Lanka is not new to MICE tourism, the country has huge potential to attract more numbers in the future, President, Sri Lanka Association of Conferences, Exhibitions and Events Organizer Imran Hassan told Daily News Business. “MICE segment as a whole is doing well despite many setbacks the sector face at present.

We need to boost the infrastructure capacity and facilities to derive more benefits from this sector,” he said. The country needs more large scale conference facilities, and the major renovation which is currently taking place at BMICH has reduced the capacity strength.
