PTF meeting discusses development projects

Northern Province Governor G.A. Chandrasiri chaired the meeting of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) for Resettlement, Development and Security held at the auditorium of the Vavuniya District Secretariat recently. PTF secretary S.B. Divaratne was also present at the meeting.

It was decided that all development projects should be carried out by INGOs and NGOs in the Northern Province after getting approval from PTF for Resettlement, Development and Security. It was emphasized that the projects should be coordinated with the Government Agent of the respective district and Northern Provincial Council. Projects undertaken by the INGOs and NGOs were also reviewed in detail.

They also discussed the Indian Housing Project by which 49,000 houses are to be reconstructed . The process of identifying the suitable beneficiaries is in progress.

Asst. Secretary of the PTF for Resettlement, Development and Security, Govt. Agents of the province, Northern Province Chief Secretary R. Wijialaudchumi, deputy chief secretaries, secretaries and heads of departments, divisional secretaries and representatives of INGOs and NGOs also attended the meeting.
