The visiting Canadian Parliamentary
delegation led by Christopher Alexander, Parliamentarian and
Secretary to the Canadian Ministry of Defense met with
External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris in Colombo
after their Northern tour. They expressed their satisfaction
over the development work undertaken in the North and also
discussed issues of bilateral interest. Irrigation and Water
Resources Management Minister and Leader of the House Nimal
Siripala de Silva too participated at the discussions. The
Canadian delegation consisted of Parliamentarian and
Secretary to the Ministry of Immigration and Citizenship
Affairs Rick Dixtra, Senator Vernon White and John Light of
the Foreign Affairs section of the Canadian government.
Economic Development Minister Basil
Rajapaksa opened Kithulaka Varuna 2012 Exhibition and Trade
Fair at the Sudarshi premises, Colombo on April 5.
Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development
Minister Douglas Devananda
and Urban Development Senior Minister A H M Fowzie also
participated.
