SL, Oman sign MoU on crude oil, petroleum products

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Sri Lanka and Oman to obtain crude oil and other petroleum products for Sri Lanka.

The MoU was signed between Ceylon Petroleum Corporation chairman Dayananda Vidanagamarachchi and Oman Oil Company chairman Nasser AI Jashmi.

Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha had discussions with the Oman government and as a result, Oman Oil and Gas Minister Dr Mohamed bin Hamad Al - Rumhi visited Sri Lanka in January with special representatives.

They discussed investments including petroleum.

Minister Premajayantha also visited Oman for discussions. The MoU was a result of these visits.

Oman Oil Company executive officer Ahmed Al Wahaibi, Oman Trading International chief executive officer Talal Al Awfi, Trade Production head Wail Al Jamali, Oman Oil Company project manager Said Al Maawali, Petroleum Industries Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena, ministry Secretary Dr R H S Samaratunga, Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery manager Neil Jayasekara were also present.
