Iranian assistance for electricity projects

Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and Iranian ambassador to Sri Lanka Dr M N Hasani Poor at the discussion at the Power and Energy Ministry

The Iranian government will provide loan assistance for 1,000 electricity projects for the supply of power for 300,000 families.

A special discussion was held between Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and Iranian ambassador to Sri Lanka Dr M N Hasani Poor at the Power and Energy Ministry recently to expedite these schemes.

The discussions centred on the progress in these electrification schemes.

The Iranian ambassador said that Iran would take action to provide further assistance and make investments for the development of Sri Lanka's energy sector. The Iranian government will also expand opportunities for Sri Lankan students to study in Iranian universities, he added.

Minister Ranawaka paid his gratitude to the Iranian government for supporting Sri Lanka's development.
