Vidyartha foiled by rain

Rain stood in the way of a Vidyartha College win when over four hours of play was lost in their inter-school cricket match against St Thomas College, Kotte which ended in a draw at the Open Prison Camp Ground, Pallekele yesterday.

Kotte Thomians in reply to Vidyartha's total of 325 resuming from their overnight score of 72 for 1 were dismissed for 148 despite a valiant knock of 84 with seven fours, one six off 129 balls by R Kulatunga.

Following on 115 runs behind the Thomians were struggling at 120 for 6, when rain stopped play

Vidyartha College: 325 all out

St Thomas, Kotte: 148 all out in 48.2 overs (R Kulatunga 84, Kavinda Yohan 49, A Rajapakse 20, P Rukshan 20, Isuru Weerasinghe 3 for 33, Tilina Rupasena 3 for 43) and 120 for 6 in 25 overs (R Kulatunga 17, B A Ebert 29, D A Ebert 54, Tharindu Ranaweera 3 for 36).
