Budget will spur development - Kilinochchi DS

Budget 2012 will further strengthen rapid development in the former conflict hit areas and will empower the rural community to boost their moral and physical value, Kilionchchi District Secretary R. Ketheeswaran said.

Commenting on the budget proposal 2012 presented by President Mahinda Rajapksa in Parliament on Monday, she further said the budget offers Samurdhi facilities for the entire country and Kilinochchi will also be benefited for the first time.

The people of the Kilinochchi district were eagerly waiting to listen to the budget proposals 2012 hoping for a favourable response from the government to redress their grievances.

As expected, the budget has focused on providing relief to them.

The budget will lay the foundation to network the South and the North together and help boost an enterprising economy with equal contribution from every nook and corner of the island.

Kilinochchi has been witnessing tremendous development after the war and the budget would no doubt, create a knowledge based society in which the power of human resources would integrate the Sri Lankan nation together', she said.

"Under socio-economic development, it will focus on uplifting the conditions of the people to alleviate poverty and increase the per capita income. The people of Kilinochchi will experience this development boom in the country which has never been experienced in the past, she said.

The budget has allocated large funds for social welfare and development. With the implementation of projects, such as, Divi Neguma, inflation will also drop, she observed.

"Kilinochchi has been a key district in the government's development drive. Many development projects are being projected and this budget will expedite these initiatives and will go to make Sri Lanka a wonderful country in which all ethnic groups would thrive with equal rights and dignity, she said.
