Police seize fake notes and machines

Police have taken into custody four suspects allegedly involved in the printing of fake currency notes together with the machines used in the operation.

The arrests were made on Monday (10) at the Thambuttegama town by a mobile patrol of the Thambuttegama police following information that the fake notes were being transported in a three-wheeler. Investigations revealed that the printing of the fake currency notes were being carried out in a house rented out by the suspects. Police also seized paper used to print Rs 1,000 notes together with a set of computers.

The three-wheeler and its driver were also taken into custody.
