Special Pinkama
A special Pinkama and a Sanghika Dana will be held at Mallikaramaya,
Ratmalana on October 14 to mark the 99th birthday of Viharadhipathi Ven
Aggamaha Panditha Weligama Sri Gnanaratana Mahanayake Thera of the
Amarapura Sri Dhammarakshitha Nikaya. The Pinkama is organized by Ven
Makandugoda Gnanamoli Thera assisted by the student Bhikkhus and the
Vihara Dayaka Sabha.
An all night Pirith Pinkama to invoke blessings on the Mahanayaka
Thera will be held on the same day at the Pannipitiya Soma Sadaham
Sevana.
Prayer, praise and healing service
The popular Thursday service of 'Prayer, Praise and Healing' will be
held today at 5.30 pm at St Paul's Church, Milagiriya (299, Galle Road,
Colombo 4). Anointed prayer for the sick and the needy will be offered
individually at this service to which all are welcome.
Pinkama
A series of pinkamas including unveiling the pinnacle, placing of
sacred relics and placing of the Buddha statue in the dagoba to
commemorate the 2600th Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi at the Ambagasweva Sri
Niyandagala Aranya Senasana will take place at the temple in
Ambagasweva, Maneruwa, Negampaha on October 14 and 15.
The events will take place under the patronage of Chief Priest of
Veralagala Ambareli Raja Maha Vihara Most Ven. Hinguruweve
Piyarathanabhidhana Nayaka Thera and Chief Priest of Nagala Raja Maha
Vihara Most Ven. Daladagama Dhammasidhyabhidhana Nayaka Thera and with
the participation of the Maha Sangha of the area.
Housing scheme opening
The People's Bank's Madhu Road housing scheme will be opened on
October 16.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rjapaksa will be the chief guest.
The bank put up the housing scheme consisting of 50 houses at a cost
of Rs 60 million, in commemoration of the People's Bank Golden Jubilee.
Occupants of the 50 houses were selected from those who deserted the
Madhu road village due to LTTE terrorism.
Funds for hospital
Funds collected for the construction of the Hope Cancer Hospital,
Maharagama will be handed over to the Health Ministry today at 11.00 am.
Hope Cancer Hospital Board of Directors, Lanka Cricket Association
Members and Lions club members will participate.
It was intended to raise Rs 750 million for the construction of the
hospital. The Sri Lankan cricket team is the main sponsor.
Donation
The YMBA Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia will donate cash and kind to the
Maharagama Cancer Hospital on October 23. Donations can be handed over
to the Dehiwala YMBA. |
