Peterites U-17 champs

St. Peter’s continued their domination in the under 17 Division I Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament when they defeated Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala by 68 runs at CCC ground on Sunday to clinch the championship.

A fighting partnership of 116 for the eighth wicket by Ranjith Liyanarachchi and Chaturanga Rajapakse brought Peterites to a descent score of 189 for 9 in 50 overs despite of having lost 7 wickets for 58 where Devans Rasanjana Jayaratne (3 for 18) and Chandima Bandara (3 for 37) did the main damage to the Peterite middle order.

Julian de Zylva (4 for 21) and Dushan Hemantha (3 for 13) put Maliyadeva to a difficult position.
