‘Attempt to create agrochemical shortage’

Some of the companies that are involved in importing agrochemicals are planning to create a shortage of agrochemicals in the market to instigate farmers against the ban imposed by the government, said Sri Lanka Green Movement Project Manager Bandu Ranga Kariyawasam at a press briefing yesterday.

He said only nine brand names out of around 1,003 registered have been turned down due to the detection of arsenic and mercury in their products and all others are free to be imported.
