Road construction inauguration

The construction of Palawatta-Morawaka road (B36) and Horawala Pitigala via Palawatta (B158) will be inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa tomorrow.

Ports and Highways Deputy Minister Nirmala Kothalawala said the government has allocated over Rs 6,500 million for these two roads. B36 road will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4,000 million while Rs 1,478 million will be invested for the B158 road.

He said the government, under its development project, has begun to improve and reconstruct all main roads.

These two roads will link Galle-Kalutara and Colombo providing opportunities for farmers to bring their products to urban areas.
