Polls for three local govt bodies further delayed

Elections for three Local Government Authorities - Chilaw PS,
Pudukudirippu and Muhudubadapattu have been further delayed. Elections
for the remaining 64 LG bodies out of a total of 67 which were postponed
earlier would be held on July 23.
According to the Elections Secretariat, elections for Chilaw PS has
been further delayed due to legal issues.
Elections for the Pudukudirippu and Muhudubadapattu LG bodies have
been postponed as the area has not been totally cleared of landmines.
The postal voting for the 64 LG bodies will be held on July 12. |
