People's Bank in final

People's Bank cricketers qualified for the final of the Nationalized Services "A Division" knock-out cricket tournament for the first time in the history.

The semi final match was played between People's Bank and ANCL at Shalika ground, Narahenpita recently.

People's Bank won the toss and elected to field first and bowled out ANCL for 111 runs in 29.3 overs.

Indika scored 54 runs and Shantha, Pubudu and Rasika shared two wickets each.

In reply People's Bank made 77 for 2 in 14 overs when rain interrupted play. Bryan Weerappuli played a captain's innings for 38 not out and Jagath 13 not out.

The match was called off due to bad weather and People's Bank had to score 72 runs in 14 overs according to parabola system and at the time of stoppage they were well placed 77 for 2 won the match by 8 wickets.

People's Bank will meet winner of NSB or Salt Corporation in the final which is scheduled to be played on June 10, 2011 at the same venue.
