Australian parliamentarians meet President

A group of Australian parliamentarians met President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday.

This group of parliamentarians is supporting Sri Lanka within the parliament of Australia.

The objective of their visit is to gather first hand information over the development activities that are being carried out by the government in the aftermath of the humanitarian operation.

They will also focus on the country's political atmosphere during their stay in Sri Lanka.

Australian Senators Steve Hutchings, Catrina Bilyk, parliamentarians Don Randall and Sharman Stone are included in the delegation. Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Kathy Kay Klugman, Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Australia Thisara Samarasinghe and External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peries were also present.
