Alleged attack puts private buses off the road

All private buses starting from Panadura went on strike yesterday following an assault on one of their employees allegedly by a Sri Lanka Transport Board employee.

Private Bus Owners Association (PBOA) president Gemunu Wijeratne said the strike will continue till police arrest the suspect. He further said this clash wouldn't have happened if authorities had given a proper timetable.

However, officers of the Mount Lavinia Police yesterday confirmed that two persons attached to the SLCTB were taken into custody over the incident.

Buses operating from Panadura, Aluthgama-Colombo, Kalutara-Colombo, Matugama-Colombo and Matara-Colombo have also joined the strike.
