Bourse shoots to green territory

Boosted by the encouraging market news of extending the credit clearing period, Colombo bourse witnessed a significant shot up to the green territory. Significant levels of gains were seen in stocks such as Guardian capital partners Plc (up Rs 81.00), Print Care Plc (up Rs 56.90) and Blue Diamond Jewellry Plc (up Rs 0.80).

ASI jumped by 128.92 points (+1.75 percent) to close at 7,487.61 while more liquid MPI gained 80.79 points (+1.19 percent) to close at 6,897.01.

The value of market turnover stood at Rs 3.0 billion.

John Keells Holdings Plc was the top contributor to the turnover at Rs 242.2 million. In addition Hatton National Bank Plc (Rs 240.0 million) and Nation Lanka Finance Plc (Rs 238.3 million) made notable contributions to the daily turnover. Meanwhile Guardian Capital Partners Plc, Blue Diamonds Jewellery Plc and Three Acre Farms Plc attracted heavy investor interest during trading.

Foreign participation was 11.45 percent of the total market activity. At the end of the day foreign investors were the net buyers with a net foreign purchase of Rs 73.7 million.Lanka Securities Research
